Having practised principally in the High Court, Robert has gained a wide experience as Defence Counsel, Prosecution Counsel and, during his time as a Sheriff, has presided over a considerable number of jury trials in Glasgow Sheriff Court. These different roles have afforded him an insight into cases from all sides. Apart from the ability to conduct criminal cases, such invaluable experience has provided him with a balanced and realistic approach, in particular to criminal trials and sentencing therein, and the requirement upon the Judiciary to balance competing interests in reaching any decision. In addition to being an able advocate, Robert is an excellent communicator on many levels. Solicitors and clients can always expect honest but firmly expressed views of any case.
